Adult Groups

Assertiveness

This ten week course explores the concept of assertiveness in the context of our culture, gender, family of origin, and belief system.  A significant component of assertiveness is communication.  Other topics covered include accepting compliments, receiving criticism, and learning how to confront in a healthy way.

This program runs in the winter (starts in Jan/Feb).
Registration opens in October.
Participant fee is $30 *

Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT)

This program is a form of therapy that focuses on the relationships and connections between our thoughts, feelings, body sensations, and behaviour.  It is an educational group that teaches skills to manage thoughts and can be very effective for persons with anxiety or depression.

This is a free drop-in group, and runs from September to June.

Communication Skills

This 2 session educational program is for individuals and couples of any description (adults only) who want to learn the basics of communication with emphasis on listening, understanding each other’s background, and respecting each other. Communication and problem solving skills will also be presented.

This program runs in the spring and fall.
Registration opens in January and June, respectively.
Participant fee is $30 *

Men’s Anger Management

This ten week course is designed for men who desire to understand and manage their anger more effectively. We look at how men and women feel & express anger differently. A major focus of the course is to discover the feelings that fuel anger and how to put them into words. Techniques are developed to express our anger in less harmful ways. 

This program runs in the spring and fall.
Registration opens in January and June, respectively.
Participant fee is $30 *

Mindful Movement

This eight week course provides a safe, ongoing group for women survivors of trauma to explore the relationship between motion and emotion, create personal movement expressions, communicate interpersonal experience, and discover the embodied nature of mindfulness.

This is an ongoing group.

Postpartum Depression Peer Support

This group meets at the Peace Lutheran Church and provides a safe place where moms struggling with any postpartum issues can come together for support, information, and community.

Taking Charge of Your Happiness

Long-term sustainable happiness takes deliberate effort and personal commitment.  This  6 session educational program takes a positive psychology approach to help individuals learn more about what they can do to increase their own happiness.

This program runs in the winter, spring, and fall.
Registration opens October, January, and June, respectively.
Participant fee is $30 *

Transforming Shame

This twelve week program is designed to address issues relating to shame, and to facilitate the development of shame resilience and a more authentic self.

This program runs in the winter (starts in Jan/Feb).

Women’s Anger Management

This 8 session psycho-educational group for women is intended to foster understanding of angry behaviour and to gain tools to better handle angry feelings and behaviour.

This program runs in the fall.
Registration opens in June.
Participant fee is $30 *

Child & Family Groups

Calm Kids

This 6 session group is for kids aged 6 – 8 years and teaches calming techniques for kids experiencing anxiety. 

This program is free and runs throughout the year.

Calm Youth

This 6 session group is for kids aged 9 – 12 years and teaches calming techniques for kids experiencing anxiety.

Family Basket

This program is designed to help families learn budget-friendly recipes, how and where to shop locally, and to encourage children to be active in the kitchen. It also provides a place to connect with other families and facilitators while sharing food prep and a meal.

This program is free and runs from September to June.

Little Owl Family Circle

This program is a drop-in parent participation program to connect with other parents, discuss a variety of parenting topics, learn more about what our community offers and play with your child. 

This program is free and runs from September to June.

Natural Connections

This program is an opportunity for parents with children of all ages to come together for a nature walk and/or fun activities in one of our local parks, to learn a little about our local area, and to connect with one another.

This program is free and runs in the spring, summer, and fall.

Parenting Isn’t Easy (P.I.E.)

This parenting program designed to help parents learn how to find a recipe for child-development that works for them and their family. Through this program the parent/guardian also builds a support system in the local community, allowing participants to talk about their parenting struggles in a safe, supportive environment.  

This program is free and runs from September to December.

Parenting Through Emotion

This group is a three session model that believes in the healing power of families and that parents have everything within them to support their children with tough emotions.  This type of training aims to help parents and caregivers feel better equipped to help their children understand and process emotion.

This program is free and runs in the winter, spring, and fall.
Registration opens October, January, and July, respectively.

Playful Art

This program provides a chance to explore multiple art, craft, play, and baking activities, and to connect with other parents, children, and facilitators.

This program is free and runs from November to March.
